Check out this article from NPR's Life Kit. https://www.npr.org/2019/12/11/787058888/how-to-start-therapy The piece that really resonated with me was about finding the right therapist for you and it's okay to move on to find a better fit. I agree with Joy Harden Bradford, Ph.D., host of the podcast Therapy for Black Girls, I won't be mad if you want to change and I will help you find another one who might be a better fit. A supervisor once told me, "you can't be everything to everybody." In the same vain, it's also okay to go back to a therapist you haven't seen in many years. If it was a good fit then, don't feel like you need to start the process all over because you feel bad calling after a number of years have passed.
